MONTEVIDEO
Montevideo is the youngest city of South America, and known for the high levels of education and lifestyle. In 2006, Montevideo was ranked as the city in Latin America with the highest quality of life. Montevideo stands out from other cities for the cosmopolitan style that permeates the city in the middle of a relaxed atmosphere. Art performances, ranging from music, dance, and theatre are continually updated and renewed. A wide variety of pubs, restaurants and bars are disclosed around the main square, and discos are set, mostly, in the outskirts.
Because of its strategic geographical position, Montevideo has grown as an important seaport-city, from where all international commerce, as well as close cultural links with its neighbouring countries, are developed. The city takes the lead among its South American neighbours in its levels of environmental quality, with hundreds of parks scattered throughout the city, and dense vegetation surrounding all streets and avenues.
